Anil Kumble’s personality was always like a fighter on cricket ground while playing cricket. Taking challenges and overcome it was his quality. This Karnataka leg spinner entered Indian cricket team as a spinner in the year 1990; but at that time he is not a spinner, he is medium fast bowler, his bowls do not take turn, this kind of words were said about kumble. But this big hearted ‘leg-spinner’ never gave up. With his strong personality he played for India for almost 18 years and during this period he took 956 international wickets. He took 619 test wickets and 337 one day wickets. He retired at the right time. After saying good by to cricket almost eight years ago, ‘Jumbo’ will be seen in new role in team India’s dressing room.

India’s West-indies tour will start from 9 July, it will be first challenge for Kumble as a coach. Aggressive Virat Kohli will be the first captain playing under the guidance of Kumble. Kumble is a calm person, focus on game and remains away from controversies. The life style of Indian cricketer have been changing nowadays. Team is full of new players. Kumble’s main aim will be to guide the team and help them to win the matches. The committee consists of Kumble’s friends Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman took his interview for the head coach job. They recommended Kumble’s name for the head coach of team India. After selection of Kumble, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Indian cricket is waiting for bright days”.

As a cricketer Kumble has used all his intelligence. During bowling for planning and strategies, he used his ‘Mechanical Engineering’ very well. His fast bowls and Googly was his main weapons. Anil kumble was only second bowler after Jim Laker to take ten wickets in a single inning of a test match. Anil Kumble took all the ten wickets of Pakistani batsmen for 74 runs in 1999 at Delhi’s Firoz Shah Kotla Ground. Kumble was selected as India’s captain for a very little period. During his captaincy he won a game at Perth, India was the first nation to won a game at Perth from Asia. 

In coming year India will be playing seventeen test matches; it is a quite a big number. Kumble’s skill will be surely test during this season. Upcoming test series will be a test for team India as India will be travelling to West-Indies after a span of five years for playing test cricket. Last time India won the series 2-0 in 2011 under the captaincy of M.S.Dhoni but not to forget that team was full of superstars like Viru, Sachin, Laxman, Dravid, Zaheer. The series comprises four Tests starting with the opening match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua from July 21 to 25, followed by 2nd Test at Kingston from July 30 to August 3, 3rd Test at Gros Islet from August 9 to 13 and fourth Test at Trinidad on August 18 to 22.My XI for the first test will be Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Virat, rahane, Saha, Mishra, Ashwin, Ishant, Shami, Yadav.
